Let your daily stresses melt away
Sri Lanka is a great destination for slowing down. With beautiful beaches up and down the coastline, the only difficult decision you’ll have is choosing which one to start with.
But that’s not all Sri Lanka has to offer. Up for more than just taking it easy? Sri Lanka offers it all.
The selection of activities ranges from scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, rafting and kayaking. Additionally, whale watching is a popular activity as Sri Lanka is home to the planet’s biggest creature, the blue whale.
Critters and creatures in all shapes and sizes
Sri Lanka is one of the best places in Asia to explore wildlife. Besides being home to blue whales and sperm whales, you’ll find wild elephants, leopards, water buffalos, and crocodiles.
Your best chance to see some of the big creatures? Try the national parks like Uda Walawe, Yala and Bundala. It's a great activity for both adults and children – who is not fascinated by these animals?
Your ticket to the best views in Sri Lanka
Get on a local train and enjoy the popular ride to Ella. If possible, grab a window seat.
From here you’ll have the sight of the beautiful and green landscape. The train slows, and you can take in lush tea plantations, rolling rice fields and endless mountain views. It was originally built with the purpose of transportation tea from the hills to the capital city back in 1864.
The train ride is one of the best and most popular ways to travel in Sri Lanka as you can enjoy the amazing scenery in a cheap, authentic and local way while heading to your next destination.
Grab your ticket in advance if you are travelling in high season because of high demand - you’re not the only one who wants to take the train to Ella to see Sri Lanka in all of its beauty.
From toddlers to trekkers and everyone in between
The country is a great destination for the adventurous backpacker with great opportunities for surfing, dive sites and hiking trails.
It is also an amazing destination for families with kids. There are not attractions dedicated only for children, but there are a lot they will love such as spotting wildlife, train rides and hanging out on the beach or snorkeling.
Whether you are travelling on a small budget or not, the prices are affordable (even though you may pay more than the locals).
The size of the country makes it possible to cover many of the highlights within two weeks – but prepare yourself to spend time on transportation.

what our travellers say
Ever since I tried diving the first time, I've been completely hooked! I booked a liveaboard tour with Bikudo to Similan Island in Thailand and it was simply a great adventure!
