Big 5 Safari: Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire
7 daysIf you want to experience the best that Tanzania (and probably all of Africa) has to offer in terms of safari, here it is.
This 7-day journey begins with a game drive through one of the most underrated parks in Tanzania, Tarangire National Park.
As we leave Tarangire behind we head towards the mighty Serengeti which goes through the stunningly beautiful crater highland – a timely teaser to what is to come on the drive back to Arusha.
Serengeti National Park is everything you would expect and more. With two full days you are almost guaranteed to find lions and you’ve got a good chance of spotting the big 5.
If we are unable to find the big 5 in Serengeti, we’ll have one last role of the dice in Ngorongoro Crater – likely to be the most unique safari experience on earth.
- Come up close with the majestic African elephant in Tarangire National Park
- Spend 2 full days in search of the big 5 in Serengeti National Park
- Be amazed by the incredible scenery as you descend down the Ngorongoro Crater for a wildlife experience like no other

Upon arriving at the gate to the national park, we’ll raise the roof of the safari jeep, find the binoculars and drive inside the park in search of wildlife and not least lions, leopards and cheetahs.
Tarangire is often overlooked due to Ngorongoro and Serengeti, which really is a shame, as this park is extremely beautiful and teeming with wildlife. Luckily you’ll get all 3 during this trip.

In the afternoon we’ll drive to the campsite, get settled in and relax the rest of the evening.

Reaching Serengeti is approximately another 2 hours from the crater rim where we will do some in route game before reaching the lodge or campsite in the afternoon.

Ngorongoro Crater and Arusha
After an early breakfast we’ll depart for Ngorongoro Crater with a bit of early morning game drive through the park.
Driving down Ngorongoro Crater is an experience quite like no other. And so is driving down the crater floor.
Ngorongoro is a lot of wildlife in a very concentrated area, which means you are likely to experience a bit more traffic than at Serengeti and Tarangire. However, the scenery and wildlife at display greatly makes up for the higher concentration of safari jeeps, as this place has to be experienced to be believed. In addition, it has the highest concentration of lions and other predators in Africa.
The uniqueness is unmatched anywhere else in the world.
After an incredible experience down the crater floor, we’ll make our way up and head towards Arusha where we will drop you off at your hotel.

what our travellers say

I went on a great first-time hike in the beautiful nature of Himalaya, Nepal. The trip was very well planned and the guides were very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend traveling with Bikudo!
