Northwest Vietnam is one of the most interesting and beautiful areas of South East Asia. This trekking tour takes you from Hanoi to the beautiful area around Sapa that is home to different ethnic groups and beautiful nature.

Sapa is an exciting place to see the culture and costumes of some of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities. Here, they still dress in their traditional colourful clothing – especially the women.

On this tour you will explore the beautiful nature of Sapa, visit the minority villages and the friendly locals in their homestay and experience the culture and local life at its best.

What you will experience on this tour

Day 1:  Arrive in Sapa - Get ready for trekking

Arrive in Sapa - Get ready for trekking

Pick up service between 06.30-07.10AM at your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter and transfer to the bus to Sapa. The bus to Sapa leaves from Hanoi at 07.30AM. You’ll arrive in Sapa between 1.00-1.30PM and a taxi will pick you up at the bus station and take you to Cat Cat View Hotel. Enjoy a lunch at the hotel restaurant.

At 3PM you’ll will be picked up and transferred to Tram Ton Pass at 1940 m. From here, you trek into Hoang Lien Nature Park and visit the Love Waterfall. After that, head to Km 7 O Quy Ho. From here, go downhill to Sin Chai Village. The trail is less tough and go through a well-protected area of Hoang Lien Son nature reservation. When we arrive to Sin chai village, you’ll have time to visit the pretty Black H’Mong village. Enjoy a dinner and stay overnight at Sin Chai village.

Day 2:  Trek to local communities and learn about batik

Trek to local communities and learn about batik

After breakfast, walk to Cat Cat and Y Link Ho – a small community in the hills. Meet the locals and be introduced to their culture.

In the afternoon, we arrive to Lao Chai village and learn more about the locals’ culture and customs. In Lao Chai village, you will participate in a 2-hours hands-on class about batik - a traditional Black H’Mong textile dyeing technique using wax and indigo. The H’Mong people will assist participants in creating their very own batik art using local materials such as hemp textile and plant-based indigo dye. The product will be retouched and handed to guests the day after at hotel before leaving Sapa.

Day 3:  Trek back to Sapa and take the bus to Hanoi

Enjoy a breakfast at the homestay before you trek to Ta Van village and visit the Zay people. Zay is a small minority group who live mainly in the mountains in Northwest Vietnam.

After that, take a walk to Giang Ta Chai village that is home to the Red Dao people. The women of Red Dao have a very colorful red embroideries, coins on their clothing and are wearing a red scarf on their heads. Some of the women have shaved off their eyebrows because a hairless face is considered to be very beautiful. We will stop for lunch before leaving Giang Ta Chai and driving towards Sapa.

The rest of the time is at leisure at Cat Cat View Hotel. Take a bus from Sapa to Hanoi at 4PM. You’ll arrive in Hanoi 5 hours later.
